Staffing Losses at SSA Impact Service

There is an interesting report by the Strategic Organizing Center that details the staffing losses at SSA. It is worth a read. It details the loss of staff down to the level of each congressional district. It notes that by March 2025 (just three months into last year), SSA had lost nearly 2,500 staff members. This is a huge amount in a very short period of time. At the same time, SSA has instituted a hiring freeze, so those positions remain empty.
